The idea is pretty simple. An office and event space for remote workers and creative professionals to cowork, create and connect.

We aim to create a home for your business that inspires and delights you, and a community where you can connect and grow. We think you deserve to love where you work, and we’d like to be part of that journey.

Our Story

Hi there! I’m Jasmine, and I’m the owner and manager here at The Business Hive, along with my husband Thor.

I’ve spent much of my career (first as a journalist and then an artist and designer) working on my own as a solo-entrepreneur. I’ve often been based in rural and remote areas – and while I love the peace and lifestyle that provides – I would often feel lonely, isolated and wouldn’t know any others who were doing similar work.

When my design studio Wild Honey Creative began to grow, I looked for an office space in my small regional town of Kyogle, and found there weren’t many affordable options for service providers. I also wanted to meet people, be inspired and connect with my community, and I wasn’t going to get that shut up in an office on my own. When the beautiful old art-deco bank building in Kyogle’s main street became available, I knew this was my chance to try something new.

The Business Hive is a melting pot of passions; Entrepreneurship, creativity, community and well-being. We can work productively in an inspiring space, we can connect and collaborate, watch great ideas collide, learn and share new skills, get creative and also look after our health and well-being.

I’ve tried to create a space where collaboration beats competition, and where people feel at home with their passions and purpose. f you are looking for the same, we’d love to get to know you.

WHAT is Coworking?
Coworking is the use of an office by people who are self-employed, working remotely, or working for different employers, so they can share equipment, ideas, and knowledge. The Business Hive is open plan, and best suited to those who work largely online such as remote and administration workers, designers, those in IT and tech fields, online coaches and educators and creative industries professionals.

If you are considering part-time or full-time membership, you are welcome to try The Business Hive with a free trial day. Email hello@thebusinesshive.co, tell us a bit about your plans, and we can arrange a free trial day for you.

what sort of people work at the business hive?

Awesome people! We have design studio Wild Honey Creative occupying the main office, and a variety of other members including a web developer, NDIS support worker, remote administration worker, author, life coach and yoga and movement instructors. See our MEMBERS page for profiles and more info.

We’d love to see you here for one of the Hive’s classes, workshops or events. All bookings are handled by the individual instructors.

For Yoga – book directly with Carmela or Mikala – you’ll find more information on our events and members pages.

See our Events page for the workshop and networking event bookings.

Each instructor is covered by their own insurance and has their own policies in regards to bookings and cancellations, so please check with them when booking.

Our Hotdesk and Casual 5-Day Passes require no ongoing commitment, though bookings are essential. Casual members don’t have a key, so we will need to make sure a member if here to let you in.

Part-time and full-time membership is on a month-to-month basis. Payment is due when you begin so you pay one month in advance. If you are moving on from the Hive and no longer wish to continue membership, we require at least two weeks notice for part-time members, and one month notice for full-time members so we can offer your place to another.

Use the contact form on our website, or email hello@thebusinesshive.co to request a Hotdesk or 5-Day Casual Pass. We will confirm that we have space for you via email (yes, we live online and check regularly). We recommend not showing up at the door without making contact first. We may be away from our desks, at meetings or on a break, and may need to arrange a member to let you in.

Hotdesk Passes should be paid with cash on the day – there is an ATM outside our building. Casual 5-Day Passes will be invoiced via email on the first of your 5 days, with payment due on receipt of invoice. Casual 5-Day passes must be used within eight weeks.

Part-time and full-time members will be invoiced monthly via email, with 7-day payment terms.

Do you have computers or printers for use?

Sorry, no. When you work here you bring your own laptop. If you need a computer, the Kyogle Library may be able to help you.

Can I just come for a couple of hours?

You are welcome to use the Hive to cowork for a few hours, however, we don’t offer part-day payments. A casual day (or part thereof), with no commitment, is $25 and includes high-speed wi-fi and complimentary tea and coffee in our air-conditioned office… Kinda perfect if you need to spend the day in town while you get your car fixed, or want a quiet place to work in the air-con.

Want to see if you like the vibe at the Hive… or still deciding if co-working is for you? We offer a free trial day by appiontment – please book in advance so we can save a great spot for you!
